4 Cups Rolled Oats
1/2 Cups Almonds
4 Tbs. Pumpkin Seeds - no shells
2 Tbs. Flax Seeds
2 Tbs. Chia Seeds
1/2 Cup Chopped Pecans
1/2 Cup Chopped Walnuts
4 Tbs. Sunflower Seeds
4 Tbs. Bran Flakes
1/2 Cup Shredded Coconut
2 Tbs. Molasses
1/2 -3/4 Cup Organic Honey
1/2 Cup Agave Syrup optional
1/3 Cup Orange Juice
1/2 Cup Raisins or Dried Cranberries
1/2 Cup Dried Fruit: dried mangos, pineapple
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Place oats on even layer on cookie sheet. Toast oats for 6 minutes, stirring every couple of minutes to brown evenly. Oats should be brown and slightly crisp when done. Don't over toast or it will taste bitter. Combine oats with bran flakes, wheat germ and seeds. In sauce pan, warm molasses, honey and/or agave nectar and orange juice, stirring to mix. The mixture should be moist, not dry but not too wet. Add a bit more orange juice if needed to moisten.
Add to the oats and mix well, coating oats completely. Spread oats in roasting pan, no more than 1" thick. Bake 20 min. at 325 degrees, turning and mixing so that the oats are evenly brown, and slightly crisp. Remove from oven and cool. When cool to the touch, fold in all dried fruit. Store in airtight containers. (I put one container in the car and one at home. Put some in zip lock bags for a quick on the go healthy snack for the whole family 🙂 Aloha!
