7 Fit Food Grocery Shopping Tips

Hitting the Grocery Store? Here are Fit Food Tips I live by:

I always keep one of my Kiana Fitness sweatshirts in the trunk. It's an easy cover up when I have to run errands. Get one @

1. Read the nutritional breakdowns of all foods you buy. Avoid foods with nitrates, high sodium, high sugar and fat. If you can't pronounce the ingredient, pass 
2. I buy organic produce. 
3. Shop the perimeter of the grocery store where all the fresh fruits and veggies are: avoid the middle aisle where all the prepackaged & processed foods hang out.
4. Instead of buying soda, try sparkling water with a squeeze of fresh lemon and lime juice.
5. Instead of fried chips and salsa, try baked chips or crunchy pita chips with hummus.
6. Avoid sugary cereals. Steel cut or traditional oats are better. My 6 year old daughter told another little girl in the passing grocery cart. "Don't get the cereals with the toys in it - too much sugar." 
7. Ice cream? Cookies? Well, if you don't have will power not to eat it, don't buy it!
